Curriculum Statement of Intent 2023- 2024
At Addmore Federation we believe that ensuring a high-quality geography education will inspire pupils to develop their curiosity and fascination about the world around them, and its people. Our aim is to teach the skills and knowledge necessary to develop children as confident geographers.
Our aims are to ensure our children understand they have a vital role to play in the wider world. By the end of KS2 we want to equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places and natural and human environments, and prepare our children as they take the next step in their education. As a rural school we feel it is important for pupils to understand local issues and the impact their choices and actions have on their immediate environment. We aim to achieve this through engaging lessons and activities; including visits and talks from members of the local community. Through well planned and purposeful field trips, pupils will learn to collect, analyse and communicate with a range of data and make comparisons and observations from what they have found; this will then enable pupils to make informed decisions about the choices they make in their own lives.
