Willow Class – Nurturing Early Learners

Welcome to Adderley Nursery, we look forward to welcoming you to our family. Your child is about to embark on an exciting learning journey and we feel privileged to be part of that process. We are committed to ensuring that all our children have a happy and enjoyable Early Years experience where a life-long passion for learning is ignited.

Our relationship with you, as your child’s first and foremost educator, is vital in ensuring that this learning journey is successful. We are thoroughly looking forward to getting to know both you and your child

We understand that when deciding on a nursery for your child, there is a lot to consider. The step up to nursery can be a nerve-wracking time as well an exciting one, and it is vital that in partnership with parents that we get this right.

The truth is that every child is so unique.

The curriculum is delivered in a thematic way, with each topic or theme guided by a fantastic book. The story acts as the anchor for the children’s learning, sparking curiosity and creativity. To bring the theme to life, Tuff trays are set up, offering a variety of tactile and sensory experiences that allow the children to explore and learn through play. Whether it’s counting objects, investigating textures, or working together to solve problems, every child has the chance to develop key skills in a fun and engaging way.

At Willow Class, we follow the EYFS Development Matters curriculum, which focuses on key areas of learning and development:

  1. Personal, Social, and Emotional Development – Encouraging our children to develop positive relationships, share, and communicate their needs and feelings.
  2. Communication and Language – Supporting the development of speaking, listening, and understanding, helping our children express themselves and develop language skills.
  3. Physical Development – Promoting movement, coordination, and control through activities that build both fine and gross motor skills.
  4. Literacy – Fostering a love of reading and writing through stories, rhymes, and phonics activities.
  5. Mathematics – Introducing numbers, shapes, and patterns through hands-on experiences that make math fun.
  6. Understanding the World – Exploring the environment, people, and communities, helping children to develop curiosity about the world around them.
  7. Expressive Arts and Design – Encouraging creativity through art, music, role play, and imaginative activities that develop self-expression.

Through this holistic approach to learning, Willow Class is more than just a place for academic development; it’s a space where children are encouraged to become confident, inquisitive, and independent learners who are excited to explore the world around them.
